The Dodge Charger was introduced in 1966. It was Dodge's first high-speed street racer. The 1970 model had the first wrap-around chrome bumper framing the grill. It came standard with a 375-bhp 440-cid four-barrel engine. Optional was a 425-bhp 426 Hemi or a 390-bhp 440 Six Pack.
The 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon comes wit a 6.2 liter V8 that produces 854 bhp. It's the world's fastest production car.

The Box

The box measures 354 x 191 x 59 mm, and weighs 524g. In the box we find 3 numbered bags, 2 instructions booklets and a stickersheet. For a Speed Champion set, escpecially a set with 2 cars, there are not many stickers. Personally, I like this. I'm not a fan of stickers. I don;t have the steady hands to apply them straight, and they feel as a bit of a cheat to make the model look pretty. I think the bricks need to do that.

The Instructions

There are 2 booklets, both measuring 198 x 126 mm. Book 1 builds bag 1 in 58 steps, and bag 2 in 18 steps. it has 67 pages. Book 2 with 56 pages builds bag 3 in 50 steps.

The Build

Bag 1 builds the Yellow 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon. There is not much to be said about the build. It's pretty straight-forward. It's nice how they made the spoiler part in the hood connect perfectly with the curved parts.

Bag 2 build a christmas tree starting light. With a slide in the back you can 'turn on' the lights one by one.

Bag 3 builds the Black 1970 Dodge Charger R/T. There is a nice cluster of SNOT going on in the front end. With this model, you have the choice between the standard hood, or a supercharger.

Like most Speed Champions sets, this is a nice build. Small but fun. There are some nice techniques used, and the endresult looks nice. These are going into my disaply cabinet with the others in my collection.
I must say that, altough the end result looks nice on itself, I struggle to find it a good representation of the orginal cars. The real life models have much more curves and subtle features. I suppose that on this scale, a true comparison is not really fair. The designers did the best that was possible on this scale.

    Nice review!
I'm glad that they decided to print some of the smaller parts now. Hope that happens more!

Very nice and informative article!  I must admit, though, your first sentence had me snickering to myself.  ;-)

Thanks for all the extra effort you put into these articles!

This is a set that when announced, I knew I MUST have.  I am a huge LEGO fan, and a huge MOPAR fan.  I currently have a Scat Pack Challenger in Plum Crazy (Purple) and have had a couple Chargers in the past as well.  I like how one of the MiniFigs is based off of a real person, even though it doesn't "officially" say it.  The female drive is Leah Pritchett, and she was the test driver for Dodge during the development of the Demon.
I like both of the models in this set, and really like some of the small printed pieces that set them off, especially the small black 1x1 tile with R/T printed, and the special printed taillight tiles on the Challenger.
One thing that really irked me with this set, is the front side of the front fenders, why are there studs there?  It detracts from the effect.  ANd the hubcap piece that makes it look like it has racing slicks on are a nice touch.
