Doctor Who is the latest from the LEGO Ideas line of sets. The original submission was in Feb 2014 and included some variations and alternate possible Doctors. The final design chose to include two Doctors (but only one companion), and was pretty faithful to the original idea. It includes the detachable Tardis and interior control console.
LEGO Dimensions is a console game with physical LEGO parts. There was a big marketing campaign around it, given it's tie-ins with lots of other franchises including Back To The Future, Portal, The Simpsons, Lord of The Rings, Jurassic World and many more. 71173 is the XBox 360 Starter Pack, there is an equivalent starter pack for a number of other games consoles.
So since we are approaching Christmas, let's get in the mood with the review of this year Winter Village, Advanced Model set: 10249: Toy Shop. This is part of a tradition of yearly seasonal cute winter village buildings dating back to 2009, including such gems as the 10235: Winter Village Market and last year wonderful 10245: Santa's Workshop. But as many of you already know, this set kind of break the tradition, as it is not a brand new model but instead a re-release of the first one of the series, 10199 Winter Village Toy Shop. Have we entered a loop of re-releases of winter sets? Or was it just a lazy year for Lego? Only time will tell, but surely many Lego enthusiasts expecting a new set were not pleased by this turn of events.
It's been a while since we ran a competition. So to make up for that, we have come up with something a bit different. The new Top MOC Competition will be a continuous month-by-month award to the most liked MOC on Rebrickable. To make this as fair (and automated) as possible, the rules are a little different to normal...
So I haven't written about updates in a while, although I'm continuously tweaking things here and there. I've added a new feature that should have been there a long time ago. You can now "follow" designers and be notified when they submit MOCs. This is separate to the usual notifications for any MOCs that match your build threshold criteria.
Here we are with another StarWars The Force Awakens review! This set is Rey's Speeder, a brand new speeder type we first saw on the trailer some months ago.
Again, I'm not sure how the vehicle or the characters fit in the plot, and I'm trying to avoid any spoiler, so no information on that side :)
On the Lego side, I was instantly attracted by this set, the dark red color and the greebling being the main factor for my interest. So let's see how it is!
This year wave of Star Wars sets surely raised a lot of interest in the Lego community, not only becouse they're from a new Star Wars movie that have yet to be released, but also becouse they look objectively cool. Poe's X-Wing Fighter expecially captured my attention with his elegant new color scheme for a very old and well known spaceship. Who is this Poe, and why does he have a custom colored X-Wing? I don't know if there are rumors already circulating about the plot, and i don't want to know either, since i'm trying to avoid any spoiler. But my guess it's either some "boss" of other pilots, or some rogue fighter who customized his (maybe stolen?) X-Wing. What's your guess?
